Patek Philippe: Why do we need to pretend that money is not an issue within the watch community?

Most people don't have millions of $ to spend on watches so the question of relative value is completely legitimate. At least that is my opinion.

Patek Philippe: Is that really true?

I find it hard to believe that perpetual calendars are significantly more difficult to make and assemble. The original 5035 had almost 100 more parts than the 3940. Even if true the movement components & assembly labor is probably a fairly insignificant portion of the overall production cost.

Actually I am old enough to remember when 5MB hard drives were $3,000. To be completely honest, I am old enough to remember a time when 2TB vastly exceeded global online storage.

Horological Meandering: At the high point I had 13 watches. Funny thing is I only ever wore three of them.
