Girard Perregaux: Girard Perregaux Casquette

Hi All, Being born in the Sixties, one of the first watches I wore proudly at boarding school in England was a Light Emitting Diode (LED) watch. These LED watches first started appearing in the early Seventies, and soon some major houses like Omega, JLC and Girard Perregaux had jumped on the bandwag

Zenith: Extremely keen observations

I thank you Magnus for some very keen observations and am enthused by your optimism. However much of what I am seeing at Zenith is so very typical of a large French conglomerate. I recognise this having worked for French banks in many countries for over 2 decades. I recognise the stereotypical brand

Zenith: Thanks old friend

Not had much time to delve recently as I change my career completely after 25 yrs in derivatives, now setting up a dot com. Collection going through a complete transformation. Reveal will come soon, but may surprise. No Zeniths as they disappoint, but more a focus on brands that impress recently lik

Zenith: Hmmm

Seems like a bit of a mess up. It's all too late for me, I have turned my back on modern Zenith for their complete lack of direction, innovation, and cohesion. I recently sold all my 5 Zenith pieces. I have absolutely no faith in a JCB puppet. Dean

Montblanc: Nice !

Definitely Bhutan is a step back in time. Tibet as you know has changed a lot over the years, especially since the train now connects it with the mainland (about a 30 hour trip from Shanghai where I live). One thing I would prepare for your trip is lots of small packets of chocolate (M&M's/Snick

Montblanc: Not sure on the watch

But I am extremely envious. I would love to do that trek in one of the most beautiful countries on the planet. I did traverse the whole country in a 4x4 a couple of years back, but my favourite times were just spending whole afternoons in the Dzongs. Here is my version of the picture you posted ! Th

Patek Philippe: First impressions

I think you need to trust your initial impressions. I would go for the white if it were not for the black bordered hour markers. It is rare that a watch grows on me, and these markers would always be an eyesore for me. So in this case, the blue hands down. Dean

Rolex: I suspect

Sorry, not an expert, but I used to dive with a red light strobe in one hand and camera and housing equipment in another. The red light strobe was to compensate for the loss of red colour at depth. Modern cameras have a setting for this so you don't need the red light strobe anymore. But anyway, I s

Zenith: Lovely watch

I would love to see them reintroduce this cool retro case shape. In a way it is iconic Zenith, but at the same time very unknown amongst the general population. I hope the reintroduce a Defy line (to replace the mundane and quite boring Captain line or the horrific Synopsis line). Love the domed cry

Zenith: Excellent report as usual

Great report of a handsome, well proportioned watch. Interesting to note the black border around the numerals which is not present in my true Type 20 Specials. I suspect a cheaper way of manufacturing. Would love to see how they have modified/finished the movement. Disappointed with their recent mov
