Horological Meandering: A few tips before assembly

I got the same kit in the summer of 2022, not sure if they've made any updates, but here's some tips, as there's more parallels to watchmaking than you'd expect: - You need to be careful with the parts, there's a lot of very small ones, and being wood, they can break. - Make sure you prepare them we

Jaeger-LeCoultre:

From the info I have, at the moment, if you place an order now, and *if* they accept it, delivery will take one year.

Actually, it is the same location. But everything inside will be different.

Horological Meandering:

Apologies, the jury restriction is actually in the third round, i.e. when there are only six watches per category. At that point, the jury must meet in person to make their votes, while the GPHG Academy also votes again, but the entire academy of more than 600 people is then counted as one jury memb

Horological Meandering:

The nominations made by the GPHG Academy only serve to approach brands and encourage them to enter their watches, but ultimately it is entirely made up of brand entries in the first round. I'm actually seeing if I can get another one of them from Blancpain, as I couldn't quite

Cartier: ISO 6425 standard

It's worth mentioning that the Calibre Diver was developed very specifically to the ISO 6425 standard that applies to diver's watches. As such, the legibility of the hands has been adapted for diving purposes (see the image attached), as has the watch's water resistance, anti-magnetism, and shock re

F.P. Journe: Two tone rationale

The rationale behind the two tone case is that it follows the design of the original pocket watch. At the time, Journe couldn't afford to do the entire case of the pocket watch in gold, so he opted for the two tone approach of gold and silver. There is another version of the watch, which follows his

Richard Mille: Toughness too

I held the watch briefly during Watches & Wonders; other than the lightness, is feels quite different from forged carbon. Richard Mille says the focus was on having a tough, durable material. The wood-like grain is also interesting, gives it a unique look.
