Choosing a calatrava....

Its never easy to choose or pick 1, as there are just so many references! I guess the way to go about it is to follow a flow chart approach, and be cognisant of the fact that not every detail you want, is carried by a single referrence. The 3796dj, althou

Thank you Emmanuel...

I have a strong feeling, the 5196 will look like a pie pan on my wrist. I just worry about the extra small dial of the 3796 although I think its gorgeous . I will likely post another topic....to get opinions of the 5115 vs 3796. That's where my mind is go

Sorry if I bring some confusion in your mind instead of a solution…

Of course I can only agree that both 3796 and 5196 have a beautiful design but as many have mentioned the case design of 5196 is such that it looks odd on a 16cm because of the lug to lug dimension. On the other hand the 3796 is really small and unless yo

All are nice Patek Philippe Calatrava watches.

But as you say you have around a 16cm wrist and you seem to prefer the style of the 3796 that would be my choice, after all it is a dress watch and as such is meant to look subtle and discreet. Also I have found that when moving to what I at first felt wa

Dear Rishi,

My experience is that the ref. 5196P doesn't wear well on my 16 cm wrist because the lug-to-lug dimension is too large. I'll let you judge based on the photo below. So, I think I would choose the 3796, especially since some photos online let me think that

Patek 3796dj vs 5196j..which would be the choice for a first calatrava?

I must say the hobnail effect on the 3796dj looks gorgeous...but how would I feel about a 30.5/ 31mm case diameter against the 37mm of the 5196. My wrist is around 16cm, and I guess trying both on would be the only way of knowing. Have any of you had the

Warm welcome on WatchProSite!

Several ref. 3796SJ can be found online, attesting that it isn't a myth. Some even come with papers. You can follow the links below to see by yourself: Facebook https://ginzo.jp/en/products/802500031342000 https://commit-watch.co.jp/products/s9s02954?srsl

You need an expert.

I have been looking at the 3796 a lot lately, all versions of it. Like you, in the digging / research that I’ve done I have only seen references to the White Gold Japanese LE. But I was not necessarily looking for that, it just so happened it comes up a l

Funny enough I bought my first Patek in the 47th St diamond district ages ago ...

A small 3998P Calatrava and no regrets. My dealer there was pleasant to deal with, had great reviews, and had a friend come over who worked at Henri Stern to open it up and also had the crystal replaced for me there. Actually wearing exactly that watch to

Thanks. I guess my impression of the seller is that he didn't know exactly what he had (meaning the specialness of the sapphire back on a 3796). I found him in the diamond district 47th St. in Manhattan - and so there is a bit of hit and miss with reputat
