It was love at first sight with the 116520 - the first Daytona with an in house automatic movement. I know many these days prefer the zenith movement Daytonas, but back in the day this was all anyone could talk about.

Been thinking about how differently collectors talk about the steel Daytona depending on which generation they came up in. The 116520 introduced the Calibre 4130 in 2000 - column-wheel, vertical clutch, entirely in-house. That was the real turning point.

The Rolex Daytona 116520 is the first true Rolex Daytona in history, as it is the first Daytona with an in-house movement. There really is nothing more to add.

Love the fact that the Rolex God blessed me in 2009 with a 116520! Switched out the bracelet for a black alligator/red lizard - love it!
