although it wasn't called California yet.The dial had already been used to Rolex, when they made it available to Panerai (it was their product) They "agreed" to produce 1 special model (only for Panerai) with the reference: 3646. Technicallly though, it n

You said.....

" It used to be 60yrs, between the real vintage & remake (or should I say hommage?) (3646 vs. PAM21, 6152/1 vs. PAM127) then it shrunk to ~10yrs? (5201/201A vs. PAM0000, PAM21 vs PAM232) then it went further below 10yrs (26A,B vs. 26K, 28A/B/C vs 28L,

Few thoughts...

I've always thought the submersible is a bit under appreciated but in my mind, it represents the DNA of Panerai the best. Having seen various after-market PVD/DLC'ed out PAM24/25, I didn't think it looks half bad. It's only a matter of time before OP came

Great people, venue, discussion and of course watches

A big thanks to Anthony, PuristS and Panerai for hosting such a fun event. All of the the 47mm LEs and the 372 are so nice. I was most surprised by the 368 in person. If I had to choose between a 217 and 368 I would have to take both ) because to me they

To stir the pot....No, a serious question to all.

Re: The definition of hommage, frankenwatch, etc Concerning the 3646 dial that sparked this question: What is to be done with this orphaned 3646 dial? Does one track down it's original case, movement, hands? An improbable task impossible to verify. Does o

wait a minute ...

I think every Panerai collector has a rather good reason to state his opinion about Guille's plan to create one or more fake Vintage Panerais. Let's please call it what it is! First and foremost, "Keller 3646" happens to be Ralf Ehlers, the co-author of t

Very nice post, Guille

What a great hommage ot the 3646! Which one do you prefer, at the end? The Cali or the " normal " dial ? You're indeed right about the fact that the Rad is the soul of Panerai, even if it is basically a ...Rolex watch. But the Roots of Panerai are the " L

Some Cali infos for you, Andrew and All

1 / Is this the first Panerai watch? No, and Yes. No because in 1935, the Italian Navy asked Panerai to make a watch for their Divers. Before the Cali, there was a Proto, which ref was 2533, which was a Radiomir Case, with a different dial than the one of
