Breguet: Yes, I think it’s a by-product of using the same base movement as the 3350/3357

The Classique 3757 uses the calibre 558QP, which has the same base movement (calibre 558) as the Classique 3350/3357. If you look at those references, you can clearly see the front of the base plate is engraved around the bridge of the tourbillon. My suspicion is Breguet just used those movements as

Breguet: Confirming on my 7037 as well

Confirming with a photo of my 7037 as well. As others have said, I imagine it was placed there to ease the job of the watchmaker. The Naked Watchmaker has a deconstruction of the 7097 (the updated 7037) with lots of photos. Perhaps someone can figure it out using the information there. -Prachi

Horological Meandering: Maybe not his grandfather

A lot of online articles say the watch was commissioned by Churchill’s grandfather, but he died in 1883, seven years before the piece was commissioned. Emmanuel Breguet writes in Breguet, Watchmakers Since 1775 , that the watch was commissioned by the Churchill’s uncle, who I imagine was George Spen

Horological Meandering: The second one is a Breguet

Churchill famously wore Breguet no 765, a rattrapante minute repeater pocket watch. It was commissioned in 1890 by John Spencer-Churchill, the 7th Duke of Marlborough, who was Winston Churchill’s grandfather. Breguet made a replica of the watch for the film The Darkest Hour. Breguet: I thought the same

Although I interpreted his comments about Hayak as “Hayak brought significant investment into the acquisition/repair of rose engines and training folks in the art of guillochage.”

Just wanted to share that Teddy Baldassarre posted a 37 minute video of his tour of the Breguet manufacture, with Breguet CEO Lionel a Marca showing him around. A nice dose of Breguet content!

Breguet: I see

Thanks for your response. That makes sense. If the numbers are ascending but some are skipped, then at least you have an upper bound, that is, the 109th is at most the 109th produced, if not earlier.

Breguet: I’m not asking about the model or serial numbers

Hey there, Regarding your question about why I care, the answer is curiosity and scholarship. I’m a big fan of Breguet, but there’s not a ton of information out there. I’d like to learn more, and this forum has lots of knowledgable folks, so I thought I’d ask. Also, I think you may have misunderstoo

Breguet: Tourbillon number on back of Breguet 3350/3357

Hi there, I’m doing some research on the Breguet Classique 3350/3357. What does the tourbillon number on the back mean? Using the example in the attached photo (taken from Ineichen’s Art of Breguet auction catalog), is it the 1191st tourbillon that Breguet has put in a wristwatch? In any watch? In t
