This wonderful cushion-shaped Patek Philippe single button (monopusher) chronograph will be auctioned on April 24 , 2026 , at Sotheby's “Important Watches” auction in Hong Kong . I therefore decided to take this opportunity to compile a list of all the cu

I personally prefer the 5950:

I like the design better and the absence of PC, which makes the dial cleaner: www.watchprosite.com Best, Emmanuel

I wore the black version of a friend...

...it is a lovely watch. My only nitpicks relate to size. While not too big, it is platinum and thus slightly top-heavy. It is 41mm x 13.56mm so not dainty. Of course, I'd like to also see it at 40mm but the movement is commensurate with the case. I know

How great is this platinum gem?

Have you ever wondered what the inspiration was behind the angle decorations on the dials of the Patek Philippe Split Seconds Chronograph ref. 5950 ( dedicated thread here )? Well, this possibly unique 29 x 29 mm platinum square watch might be the answer.

The only alternatives I can think of

with such a tonneau-cushion case and a seconds hand are the following ones. Best, Emmanuel Ref. 3585 www.watchprosite.com credit: analog shift Ref. 5950 & 5951 www.watchprosite.com Ref. 3670A www.watchprosite.com credit: @timvaux Ref. 5275P credit: antiqu

The 5940 is a lovely watch, but you are correct about the hands...

...they are not the traditional 'leaf' hands. They are similar to the 5950A, but I think they look better on the 5950A. Japanese special editions are usually very beautiful and interesting as long as the price isn't too high.

I think this wonderful blue dial variant is ref. 5950/1A-010.

I've listed all the 5950 & 5951 in a previous post here: www.watchprosite.com / The 3670A-001 is another kind of gem, even if very close design wise. Grail level, just as the 5950, without a doubt. Best, Emmanuel

Similar but not the same one mon ami

Emmanuel is talking about 3670/1A which is an amazing chronograph with 13-130 vintage caliber, while the one from our friend is a ref 5950A-001 so also in steel but it’s a mono pusher split chronograph with caliber 27-525PS (first seen on the iconic ref 5

Patek Philippe ref. 3670A-001

When I reviewed the ref. 5950 & 5951 , seven months ago, I left aside a reference which is closely related to them design wise: the ref. 3670A-001 . In 2011 , Patek Philippe decided to place into a steel 37 mm cushion case , reminiscent of their original

As far as I know, even if it's unusual,

it isn't the only model which was never made in platinum (for example ref. 5396 or 5950). As for the reason why a platinum variant wasn't produced, I really don't know. I would imagine that if major collectors had requested one, it would have been done. B
