Many, many moons past, I used to wait for a bus in Madrid to take me to the university. The bus stop was in front of a jewelry where for the longest time they exhibited…

…in their front window an Omega Marine Chronometer. My love for that watch has never waned. I’ve always wanted one but haven’t been able the one I’d buy: flawless, like new. Anyhow, here is a watch that lives deep in my amygdala.

Maybe you need to loosen the helium escape valve and let all those gases out…

There aren't many quartz watches I'd want to own . . .

. . . but the Marine Chronometer is right at the top of that very short list. I found one at a pawn shop a few years ago, but the asking price was relatively high, and there was no budging from the owner. One of these days! . . .
