Patek Philippe: Can’t say we didn’t see this coming…

After all Mr Thierry Stern mentioned the following in an interview last year to explain the discontinuation of 5711: “I don’t want us to have more than a third steel watches. The steel Nautilus makes up a big part of that quota, and I don’t like that”

Patek Philippe: Discontinuation of 5711…

Followed by the introduction of 5811… It’s a familiar playbook used by other brands but rather unexpected from Patek. I have mixed feeling about this.

Jaeger-LeCoultre: I’m with you on this…

Was deciding between a Cartier Tank and the Reverso. The price increase is certainly the deal breaker now.

IWC: It’s down to individual preference

I don’t mind wearing huge pilot watches since traditionally they were meant to be big. The black ceramic case makes your 3789-01 looks smaller too

Horological Meandering: Understated beauty…

It’s a shame that JD has stopped most of its production. As a niche brand within the Swatch group, JD’s business model pales in comparison to its cousins

Independents: Chronoswiss was my first love when I ventured into watches

I always believe Gerd-Rudiger Lang should receive much more credit for reviving the Swiss watch industry. Chronoswiss made mechanical watches interesting and affordable to the masses.

Horological Meandering: I will only believe it…

When I can walk into a boutique and get a Rolex submariner, Daytona or other sports model, at RPP. Not too long ago, this was the right way to buy Rolexes and boutiques actually threw in some discounts too. Ok time to wake up to the new reality 🤣

Independents: C. 112 is a decent movement

Chronoswiss did a great job restoring it and daily accuracy was within reasonable range
