I just pleased myself with a 70th anniv Fifty Fathoms act I yesterday, found one, at "reasonable price", just below MSRP and I love it! It's nowhere close to your vintage ambitions...
It's a 12h GMT which has a "dot on the dial at 6 in the second subdial", that turns from black to white every 12h to indicate am/pm.. its reads at a glance, very minimalist to see, and very subtle. They only did this for 3 years.. Great touch!
It's the kind of detail that is a deal breaker for some, or a reason to want it. I love it, so far it is the Pam I like the most, the 44mm has a good presence, without being too much of a statment, it's all in my comfort zone. Thanks for your input. Take care.
But I am putting a picture below, when the GMT os set at the same time as local hour, and than, it is invisible, as it will run with the hour hand in a 12h cycle, and the GMT hand is designed in a way that it is totally hidden by the hour hand.
Meaning that you can hide the GMT hand behind the hour hand, and you could never guess it is a GMT at this stage. Looks like a clean 3 hand, the am/pm is featured by a dot that shows white or black in 12 hours rotation. No quick set date, but quick hour set, hacking second with "zero" reset. Nice mo
