By definition paint “correction” is abrasively removing a top layer of paint. Depending on its condition now, especially if it’s the original paint, this may not be desired as it will make the finite paint layer thinner. IWC: Did you figure out what failed?

Was anything broken on the strap, or did it just release? I shopped the Darwin, but ended up with the steel Cousteau version. I haven’t experienced a failure, but have read a few accounts of the strap coming off.

Horological Meandering: I use an old plug in soldering iron...

or an electric drill. Both produce a pretty strong magnetic field. Works fine as a demagnetizer. confirmed with a small compass.
