After reviewing this post, I reached out to Beat, at ochs und junior, about commissioning a custom built sturgeon leather strap for my Sarpaneva. He is a delight to interact with and is willing to do the blued titanium hardware for the strap buckle. He even states the process is not an exact science

That were 22mm to fit the MMD. But that's changed now! 💥😈

The strap was called "scales" but I agree with you, when I saw it, I thought of waves, too. I thought it would pair nice with the waves on the bezel of the watch. It does!
