Remember that Blancpain had made a collaboration with Revolution watch magazine 3 years ago and they made 30 Bathyscapes back then. I will be upset if Marc Hayek is selling any models to Clymer & co that overlap with the novelties that are being released later this year. Or any limited editions from
Hodnkee has done a pre-sale setup where friends of Clymer & co get to reserve/purchase the LE watch before the general public. The general public release is likely never the full lot of units available. I would guess more than a few friends are dealers and private collector guys who flip regularly.
I didn’t know that they have been selective about who they talk to. It does elevate them in my mind that they would turn down coverage from Dinkee. That bullhorn works well to gin up interest and speculators. It’s refreshing that an independent maker like them waves it away. I mean look at FP Journe
but really wished they had taken the leap with a green dial. Based on their recent history, I would expect a few more versions of this rattrapante released over the next few years as MB rides this wave. Don’t you think?
