Horological Meandering: This is a very fair assessment of these watches.

Price aside, I think they are absolutely lovely. I similarly like the moon phase the best. However, I too struggle with the cost. You are in VC, Patek, or ALS range at $20,000. In my view, this comes down to opportunity cost.

F.P. Journe: I am not a huge Journe guy...

But this one, in particular, is absolutely fantastic. The black-dialed CO is truly an iconic watch and one that I think history will remember fondly. Congratulations on getting your grail, and I wish you the best of luck transitioning into this new phase of the hobby!

Audemars Piguet: This is a really, really cool combo.

I immediately sent it to a friend with the BLNR. A great way to make this reference a little more fun.

Jaeger-LeCoultre: Congratulations, Chris!

You are in good company wearing a round JLC for the birth of your first! (Me, leaving the hospital):

Patek Philippe: I like the 5196P - it is a beautiful reference, but...

Is anyone else bothered by the placement of the sub-seconds? That is something I have never been able to get over. I find the placement here to be so much more convincing:

Patek Philippe: Thank you!

I am a believer in some skin tones being better for certain watches. This watch works well with my ruddy skin tone (normally greys and tans work best, blue is not my color).
