but I have had no luck with my JV. The strap retails for $375 in Australia but luckily mine was a gift so I didn't feel quite the same $$ pain when I noticed little "flicky bits" floating away from the strap and keepers. Officine Panerai: The hands of all authentic 233s are steel.

They are mirror finish polished stainless steel, and are generally photographed looking black. They will, however pick up other colors if they are not photographed with accurate lighting. I'm a big fan of Panerai's gold hands, and have three PAMs with them [203,231,232] but unfortunately my 233 does

are polished Stainless Steel...silver looking.....but in many photos they appear black. Hope that helps.

Collectors Market: comment

With respect, I think the retail price of a Panerai 289 is a little over $26,000 rather than the $12,300 you state. That lower figure is for the SS version of the same watch..designated 233.
