Ulysse Nardin: The basic Ulysse Nardin caliber and magnetism.

Dear friends, I have recently reported in the "main" forum that the magnetic field generated by a MacBook Pro laptop is around 1000 Gauss (I have used a professional gauss-meter). Is this safe with a watch using the UN-118 caliber ? I know that the hairspring is non-magnetic but the rest of the move

Horological Meandering: For those of us concerned with the huge magnetic fields from laptops : real data - 1000 Gauss.

Dear friends, You might have noticed that MacBook Pro laptops generate impressive magnetic fields. I have just used a professional gauss-meter to figure out the real value. Basically, there are 2 "hot spots" (unfortunately on the left side of the computer, just were your watch is situated when you u

Patek Philippe: What happened to the Patek Philippe pulsomax escapement ?

Dear friends, More than a decade ago the pulsomax escapement was launched in the regulator (5235). It also appeared in some "advanced research" pieces. But it seems that the new travel time annual calendar launched this year and based on the same caliber (31-260) does not use it. Do you know why ? I

Breguet:

You might consider not being rude and arrogant. If Breguet posts incorrect pics on their own official website this 100% stupid. There is NO DOUBT the inner angles are NOT present on their film. Breguet: Not that old

Hi, In this particular case, the movement is not old and even exhibits some interesting "modern" features. I find it excellent that a 20 years old movement is considered as quite new and that movements are not changed every 5 years. Don't you agree ?

Breguet: Cynism...?

Friends, To me, like to many others, the Breguet Caliber 777Q was mostly appealing as one of the last "basic" movement with interior angles. See the first pic of cal 777Q, which is old. However, I have just looked at the film available on Breguet website and it seems that, in the current version of

Blancpain: Is Blancpain at the top (again) ?

Dear Friends, In the past, the reputation of Blancpain was honestly not great. Many of Blancpain owners had problems and the usual advice was "to avoid troubles, avoid Blancpain". Beyond reliability concerns, there were also finishing concerns. I think things have changed in the good direction and t

Patek Philippe: BTW...

... I wonder : the Pulsomax escapement is still used only in the regulator ? It has been abandoned by PP ? Was not working as well as expected ? Thanks.
