My favorite GS are probably: the SLGW005 and the “Imperial V.F.A.” ref. 4580-7020 (same 45GS case) but also the First GS ref. J14070 and the Kintaro Hattori 160th Anniversary ref. SBGZ005 (same First GS case) Best, Emmanuel
While several members are rightly happy with the modern re-edition - and it has been high time for Grand Seiko to look at the 45GS and make an appropriate modern hand wound movement for it, I am likewise enjoying the historical grandfather - the 4520-8000
I'm completely in love with this piece. I love the 45GS case and I'm so happy to own the SLGW005, which is a wonderful recreation. But of course, the Imperial crest and the patina on the dial of this particular watch bring the whole thing to grail level.
This Seiko ref. 4580-7020 is usually called the “Imperial V.F.A.” (short for “Very Fine Adjusted”). Its dial features, at 12 o'clock , the Imperial crest of Japan or Chrysanthemum crest (菊紋, kikumon ): a circular flower comprising a front set of 16 petals
