I’ve tried on the 1593 in Brussels,

when buying the 5098P, but I wasn’t convinced by the fit and look on my wrist: www.watchprosite.com Cheers, Emmanuel

These vintage shaped watches speak to me very much also…

And particularly ref 2461 as well as ref 425. They are incredibly classy and charming, this is definitely a watch for connoisseur. As you mention to my knowledge not all were originally delivered by PP with a faceted crystal (plexi actually) but the major

Dear Patekova,

I haven’t yet been able to see a 2442 or a 2468 is real life, unfortunately. Given my experience with the 1593, I think I would enjoy the slightly smaller size of the 2468. And I would very much like to see how the curvy case of the Banana looks in person

Hi Emmanuel. Thanks for posting this review of one of favorite styles of Patek rectangular watches - the hour glass. I can think of 3 models.

The 1593, which is perhaps the most iconic; the 2442 “Banana” (my favorite); and the infrequently mentioned 2468 (pictured below), which is basically a slightly smaller version of 1593. Credit: On Behalf

It’s such an impressive 1593 trio you have here!

Thank you so much, Modernahab !

My (limited) experience is indeed that a watch absolutely needs to be tried on. This 1593 looks wonderful on other wrists than mine and I think that it’s a great reference from Patek, but it doesn’t seem to be one for me, unfortunately. I’ll give it anoth

Do you like the “Hour Glass”?

The Patek Philippe ref. 1593 was introduced in 1944 . It was nicknamed the “ Hour Glass” because the sides of the case feature a gentle curvature that taper inwardly to the centre from both ends - resembling the lines of an hour glass. The side of the cas

Wonderful ref that I have always loved

I even owned a rose gold version for years with its beautiful faceted crystal, I have to check my hard disk to try to find a photo of it (it’s many many years ago…) Unless I am mistaking the nickname of ref 1593 is the Hourglass and not the Pagoda which i
