Of all the references the 5970 series had the most “commissions”

The ref 5004 closely follows then the 5070. Some are genuinely unique dials but some where made in a very small series. However, to put all this into perspective I predict that only 50-100 pieces were made. Consider approximately 3000 pieces were made, th

I had always so much preferred the 3940 that I didn't pay attention to the 5140

But that's changing a bit! I like how the case and dial markers are a bit bolder than the 3940 while still keeping everything slim, neat, and restrained. I was trying on this G recently and it was hard to take it off!

Patek Philippe 5140R.

Not bad looking with its brown dial, even if I still prefer the Platinum Blue, I must say. Here is the Platinum for the comparison: Best, Nicolas

Patek Philippe 5140P.

A cool case and a beautiful dial and this Cal 240 in all its beauty. Not sure I prefer it to the 3940, but I can confess that it is another tempting one. Always a great pleasure to see one. Best, Nicolas

Interesting. I didn't know 5960 v 5140 would generate so much discussion.

I think 5960 is a better watch, but 5140 suits your wrist better. And you mentioned wearability / slimness a few times. However I feel you may like the 5140 to meet a price point. Instead, you may want another thin watch whose date function is easy to set

I personally like both. If I would have to choose I would boil it down to what style of place in my collection is more with a gap:

Due to complications, case size, etc. the 5960 is sporty classic while the 5140 is romantic classic. Depending which one I would crave more I would accordingly choose. Last comment, I personally like more the slate dial 5140. Makes it even more special im
