Anders, I hope my direct style didn’t offend you.

I don’t believe Panerai has always made the best decisions with regard to their case materials and finishes. I would be interested in seeing their actual manufacturing specifications. Anyway, I have five Panerai with the 6497 movement (000, 114,176, 177 &

agree

but would you buy it today for the price they ask today I mean if you were in the market looking for a titanium case brown dial ... I would consider the 55, 118, 176, 564 but not a 36. At least I would not .... You can have the 4 I mentioned or 1 00036

Regardless of my recent previous comments I do love the brand (lots of Italian blood in me) and do still have a few I plan to keep. Requiring a watch to go up in value is massively limiting,

even silly with all things considered. I do agree that big is better for a Panerai but I've now shrunk enough for me 933 to look big on my 6.5" wrist. The 372 is gone but I’m still loving my 590, 562 and 933 And must admit that I miss my 176 that I should

The Panerai watches that are true to their roots are very desirable but they made numerous mistakes with pricing and marketing. I bought a 372 when it first came out, not long after I bought

it they lowered the price of the watch (just one example)! It was like they had cracked the Rolex-PP-AP value code and then began to make one mistake after another. Oddly the only one I've ever owned that continued to hold value really well did not have a

Amazing AE.

I’d have to agree with you that titanium (especially in grade 5) is king when it comes to timepieces. Amazing weightlessness and can take a polish while being scratch resistant. Some of the options (in titanium) that I’ve got or am looking at: Now being o

Unfortunately no. The closest thing I have to a 176 is a 562. Also 44mm, sandwich dial, clean and simple, titanium with dark brown dial and has the 8 day in-house inside.

This is similar and a very nice watch IMHO. You should try to find one to see what you think. Might be easier to find than a 176 also.

I found one.

Does that get your vote, more than a 176?

I owned a 176 almost 20 years ago now.

Not the sandwich dial at that time. My buddy owned a 40mm white dial PAM (don’t recall reference) around the same time or maybe a few years later. To me, the 176 is the choice here. I’m not a fan of these earlier white dials, with the exception of the PAM

176 for me

I love white dial pams too but I'm too much of a lume freak! The 176 is one of the few luminor Ti cases with a black dial, most are brown which gives a different vibe, I used to have a 562 and have been considering a 118 or a destro just for fun. Keep us
