Many excellent suggestions here

The question of budget is of course one of the determining factors. On the less expensive side, sham1's suggestion of the Seiko Presage is an excellent one imo. More expensive would be the Grand Seiko Shunbun, also a gorgeous piece. Nomos is excellent als

I vote for either Lake Suwa or the Tentagraph

Leaning towards Lake Suwa. Wonderful piece imo. Tentagraph is also great. Funny when I opened the post I saw the watch I’m giving my son as part of his graduation present from college. The gmt sbgm221. Looking forward to hearing about your decision! Happy

You are partially right. And I was wrong with the reference number.

SBGM003 is the first version released in 2004 with solid case back and 50 hr reserve movement. Mine is the next version the SBGM021 which looks identical from front as the 003 but has a display back, 72 hr reserve movement and better finishing. The 021 wa

Early SBGM221. This is from 2010 when it was first released if I remember correctly.

The finishing and design are still astounding Time for a new strap; I see a tear beginning at 6 o’clock 😊

Tops! I was looking at this for a long time...

Big Congrats on your new catches dear friend Tony! And welcome to the World of Grand Seiko! ... Both watches are beautiful. I´m specially fond of the SBGM221 with its charming...

... ivory dial. As a matter of fact it had been haunting my soul for a long time since I tried it in a GS Boutique and I finally plunged on it last November. It is a lovely elegant watch. I appreciate so much the high quality of GS watches in finish, move

Hello my dear friend Tony! A grand finale of 2019 with two great catches. The Lange 1815 chrono is a fabulous timepiece and the GMT ...I love this new rendition of a classic.

And a great beginning of hunting season 2020 you had with this duo of GS! I love the creamy dial of the SBGM221 GMT so much. I also got that one on my trip to Barcelona last November. That watch had been haunting my soul for a long time! Enjoy these watch

Question around SBGM221 redesign

Hello all - I've been a big fan of Grand Seiko's SBGM221 for a few years now. I'm leaning towards finally picking one up, but have heard rumor that GS is planning to release their 2020 watches in March. I realize folks aren't likely to know, but on the of
