Thankfully, there are some interesting options in the middle ground.

I agree that the Swiss Independents are catering to the growing group of UHNW collectors who are looking for the unexpected and spectacular, but at least non-Swiss entities are stepping into the gap between affordable microbrands and bespoke Independents.
