Wow...this opened my eyes to the refinement of lacquer dials when done exceptionally well

The quality applied to the Roger dubuis and luc dials are so sharp and glossy. I would have thought enamel unless told otherwise! I have a Girard Perregaux 4930, but I don't find the black lacquer of the dial to be finished as smoothly as the examples you

Lacquer Dial Details

With all the attention given to grand feu enamel dials, I sometimes wonder if we undervalue really well done lacquer dial decoration. This Roger Dubuis Sympathie S34 is a case in point. Note the creamy tone, the smooth texture, and the subtle gleam. Consi

Thanks Emmanuel.

It looks an interesting watch, and as you say, it’s good that RD have produced a unique design and not another Genta-esque design. From the pictures it looks like the time will be difficult to read when the hands are over the calendar sections. I definite

Old catalogs (part 6) Roger Dubuis

Old but not old enough to post more than 2 pics. I believe its from 1999 or 2000 Imo much better than the prices they make today ... but as you can see ... The sympathique already has the round sapphire and not the shaped one that fits the specific case.

The steel Excalibur Biretrograde Calendar

When I reviewed the Rose Gold version of the Excalibur Biretrograde Calendar , I explained why I found it interesting despite the mixed feelings it inspired in me. I feel the same way about this new steel version, ref. DBEX1209 . I'm not fond of the openw

That really is a stunning looking Roger Dubuis Sympathie Minute Repeater in platinum.

I agree the dial is indeed stunning but that sub dial at 3 needs to go IMHO and I must confess whilst I love these Roger Dubuis Sympathie watches I care not for the minute repeater complication, but each of us to our own taste is fine. Marc

The case shape is truly incredible, as is the movement, dial, etc. Imho Roger easily showed his ability to equal, or surpass the typical brands back then.

Both are historically significant, showcasing how talented watchmakers can walk away from corporate big box store brands and make a go of it on their own. Horology needs this, or else lay stagnant as brands do what they're doing with recent yawners while

A Sympathie Minute Repeater in platinum

This Roger Dubuis Sympathie Minute Repeater in platinum is a very rare and impressive timepiece. The guilloché dial is stunning , but I find the subdial at 3 o'clock a bit empty , personally. The shape of the Sympathie case is gorgeous . But I'm not fond
