Like you, Rishi, I've never really warmed up

to the Reverso: for whatever reason, it doesn't fully speak to me and I have the feeling that JLC has made way too many variants over the year. As fast as as this particular vintage piece is concerned, I love many things about it, but I have to say that I

What a beauty this vintage piece is Emmanuel...

I am so drawn towards shaped watches from Patek. I agree with you Emmanuel, the cartier and, for me also most reversos, lack the grace ,curve and finase showed by the Gondolo series. Now this vintage piece has a oval shaped minute track , exploding numera

The Roman hours — a sleeper!

Emmanuel, the 5014J Roman hours is a real sleeper. 28 x 35 mm in yellow gold with a manual wind — there is something deeply personal about a watch like that. I love how a single wristshot changed your mind. That is the magic of this hobby, sometimes a wat

Cousins?

I recently discovered the watch on the right , a Patek Philippe ref. 11 from 1919 , and the vertical layout of its Arabic numerals reminded me of the Arabic dial of the ref. 5014 , here on the left . The ref. 5014 with a dial featuring vintage looking Ara

Ref. 5014J “Roman hours”

Over a year ago, when I made a thread about the Patek Philippe ref. 5014 , this “ Heures romaines ” ( Roman hours ) dial wasn't my favorite. But upon recently seeing this wristshot , I couldn't help but think: I love it . What about you ? Best, Emmanuel 2

Emmanuel, thanks for another wonderful pictorial review, this of the not so popular 5014. These are the 5 reasons in my opinion why the 5014 is not very popular:

1) it is not round 2) it is not round 3) it is not round 4) it is a bit small by today’s standards 5) many might find it to be somewhat antiquated looking and plain and simply just not their desired aesthetic. This is not how I feel about it. Do I love th

Thank you, Claus.

This certainly is a very nice graduation present! I’ve seen some 5014R mentioned, but couldn’t find any official extract or certificate confirming the rose (and not yellow) gold. And, strangely, the rose gold seems to be mentioned only for the black dial

5014R

Hi all, Couldn’t help notice this thread as a family member was recently gifted this watch as a graduation present. It is supposedly a red gold version with a black dial. Claus

Patek Philippe ref. 5014

How and why is this wonderful reference so left aside is completely beyond me. As far as I could find, it was given 3 different dials (one black, two white) and was made in 2 metals (yellow and white gold), all powered by caliber 215. On this site, ronhan
