Independents: Moser FTW

I like the 4400 caliber in the Vacheron but after twenty years of seamasters, submariners, luminors, and black bays, I now wear a rose gold moser as my daily. Ironically I was OCD about scratches on my steel divers but I love doing casual activities with my moser. You made a great choice with this s

Independents: Auction wins are the most exciting way to acquire a hard to find piece like this!

May I ask the lug to lug of this 36mm? Is it 44 mm ?

Horological Meandering: Depthmaster

I have this exact watch and it’s a 10/10 for me and really made me question the value of my Rolexes omegas and even tudors. Are applied incidices and lacquered dials worth 5x to 10x the price ? I never particularly liked applied markers and think the 1016 looks cooler than the 124270. Ultimately whe

Horological Meandering: Water resistance

Global warming might kill off dress watches. This is normal weather these days. I think a Lange saxonia could survive it but maybe not the leather strap. But if I were wearing a journe Bleu in this weather I’d have more anxiety than wearing a Daytona in london.

Patek Philippe: Walt

Walt odets has said that the dial side finishing of Lange movements does not match the case back side finishing. This approach doesn’t feel as authentic to me because a true craftsman (think Japanese sword makers) would do their best work even on the components the buyer can’t see.

I love everything about this one. Rose gold, slate dial, 4400 manual movement. Every element carefully considered

Edouard is that you? J/k…. I’m surprised by the enthusiasm for the cartier tortue privee. I thought I’d be the only one who liked it or even who thought it was a man’s watch. The dealer I’m negotiating with listed it as a woman’s watch even though it’s the 34 x 43 man’s size. I do like the moser mov

Horological Meandering: Wearability

I didn’t see the jlc ultra thin skeletonized design as feminine before your post but I can see it now, it does look a bit dainty/delicate. The case is rated to 50m like all the master control series, which is pretty crazy for such a dainty looking watch.

Horological Meandering: Thank you

Sincere thanks for the personal note. If haute holigerie means artisanal handicraft in watchmaking with a watchmaker at a workbench using tiny tools to do stuff to tiny parts, that’s the term I’m looking for. For this capstone watch I’m looking for something that is made by hand rather than just ass

Thank you for the comparison photos, i can see the difference because you circled the areas of interest but otherwise I would not be able to find the difference myself. Patek’s movement doesn’t seem to fare well under scrutiny. Is the patek movement more industrial than artisanal? Suppose you had a
