Here is the -7040 VFA, currently away for servicing and to have a NOS AR crystal fitted. These often look a bit strange in some photos but the case is an interesting shape in real life and adheres more to the 'Grammar of Design' than is perhaps first apparent.

I also wonder if these VFA use the HSS for the case? It's remarkable the number that survive with excellent cases. Of course, the high price when new may have something to do with it but they are often found with damage to the glass or dial itself, yet the case is perfect.
