A. Lange & Söhne: very tough one...

both are top cool pieces... when I have tried them I have liked the way the modern version sits on my wrist a marginally better. sits lower and less top heavy... pure aesthetics I favor the original... both are great however. Now if I had to choose and vote with my own wallet I might have to go with

Rolex: what is paid at a charity auction...

is generally nothing to do with value of underlying item... I have been to plenty of silly charity auctions... one where buyer bought a pair of shoe laces for usd 25k... what matters is that the money goes towards a good cause. tax write-off or not does not really matter either in my opinion...
