That "geophysique" is not antimagnetic, is not a chronometer and is not manual wind (but actually, the first two points are even more important in the spirit of the Geophysique). That is definetly NOT a tribute, but an appealing design of a Master Control inspired by the granny. IWC, Blancpain and JLC have a nice offer in that kind of watch, I think it is a bit highly priced but actually they all are.
On the topic Chronomètre Royal which as you know is very dear to me, if you hoped me to jump off my chair, well done
-First, the Chronomètre Royal 1907 is NOT a tribute and do not pretend to be. The case has similarities with the CR of the 90s, the dial is one of its kind, but it is a Chronomètre Royal, which implies some minimums (see 4th point).
-2nd contrary to the Geophysique which was only handwind, VC had Chronometre Royal with automatic caliber in his history (and important one like the "Crab Lugs" but it actually has no importance see first point.
-3rd, in the vintage CR it is not the same caliber though the basis is similar, now if ebauche and finisehd is the same for you (like a Patek 13-130 and a Valjoux 13), this is not my point of view...
-4th the Chronometre Royal 1907 is a chronometer, it seems to be a minimum for that kind of watch and has a Geneva Hallmark like all Chronomètre Royal which is the second minimum for such a watch. Vacheron didn't betray the name.
And that's where I go back to that "Master Control Geophysique". How JLC could miss that chronometric point point? The intern1000 hours? lol
This is for me the most shocking part, more than missed the manual wind caliber. A so called Geophysique which isn't COSC, that is mocking the name Geophysique and the customer imho.
That said if there are people ready to buy it, and that they will enjoy it, well that is what counts after all. Like an Hublot, I am not that kind of customer but if people enjoy it, great , but don't expect purists to admire it.
Cheers
François
