That's a good reference point, but a lot of details are missing, which might make a difference.
1. Original poster and you both didn't state if you were the original owner of the watch.
2. Both didn't state if you bought it from the same boutique you're sending it for service through.
3. Your Omega boutique may be a franchise or corporate owned. We don't know, as you didn't state. The Patek Philippe boutique in Miami is a franchisee. In addition that an Omega boutique may not operate identically to a Patek Philippe boutique; a franchisee and a corporate owned boutique may not operate the same neither.
4. If the charges were clearly stated and agreed to, then what's the problem? A store cannot charge one's credit card without a signature from the client. So the charge is unlikely a complete surprise.
5. And perhaps most definitively: Patek Philippe's warranty does not state they cover shipping costs for warranty work. Thus, any expectation that there should be coverage in either shipment direction, is assumption-driven. I don't know about Omega, but according Google AI (which can be mistaken) with the prompt; "does Omega Watches cover shipping for warranty repair work?" the response from Google is that Omega generally covers shipping costs for warranty repair work and they even offer shipping kits.

So, overall, your experience is a good reference point. But there are a lot of small details that may change the landscape.
