I would not expect a Patek Philippe dealer/boutique/retailer in Miami to ship my watch for free if I bought the watch in Illinois.
And I think if you had empathy for the store's position, you might come to the same conclusion. It's a scalability issue... if a thousand people came to the store in Miami and asked them to send their watches for warranty work... It's not scalable. And Miami has a huge expat population from New York, LATAM, and more - so the store probably has realized this wouldn't be sustainable - even if these were all warranty repairs. Furthermore, even if you go back to the store in Illinois to have the watch sent to the Service Center, that store wouldn't be out of their scope to charge you for the shipping. They don't know it's a warranty issue yet - only the Service Center can make that determination. And while they may agree with you and trust your opinion that it is, that doesn't mean that they have to waive shipping charges.
