Patek Philippe

I certainly appreciate the logic of your viewpoint and the arguments you make in favor of it. My viewpoint is a bit different.

I feel that from a customer relations standpoint and long term financial standpoint: if a client of an AD buys a Patek from that AD and the watch develops a problem during the warranty period the AD (unless the warranty specifically states that the client pays shipping), should cover the shipping costs. And I state this regardless of whether or not ultimately it is determined that the problem is covered by the warranty. For the AD to charge its client a shipping fee for a warranty period service is IMHO penny smart and pound foolish. Patek and Patek ADs should be above that. Pateks are super expensive and clients should expect not to be IMHO “penny anted” by the AD or Patek .
Yes, one might rightly say $300 S & H is not penny ante, but a client might sour on the relationship both with the AD and Patek. Hence the “pound foolish” part. Clients treasure not just the watches but the collegiality of the relationship both with the AD and Patek. That needs to always be nurtured and never taken for granted. Best on so many levels to go the extra for the client. Anyway all this is just my personal viewpoint regarding the shipping costs for a watch purchased from that AD. Reasonable minds can certainly disagree.
