I had the pleasure of meeting Milan for the first time last night...
...and he was a wonderful, personable gentleman. You were certainly mentioned -- in glowing terms! I would be remiss in not thanking him also for leading last night's presentation. He showed a real passion for these pieces, and I think he should be proud that JLC was able to execute on this concept so quickly. The idea for these two watches germinated at SIHH only last year, and Milan says the watches will be delivered around mid-June. Considering the novel casings and what is promised to be a very cool companion box in which to house these pieces, I think this turnaround is pretty speedy if everything is released as planned.
From my perspective, regardless of whether or not people like these iterations of the NSA (I personally like the looks of both, and really dig the titanium version from both an aesthetic and practical standpoint.), or feel unhappy about an additional set of limited editions for a watch that was meant to be a LE itself, you cannot deny that JLC from the top down (Mr. Lambert's name was referenced more than once as an executive who is exhibiting a true desire to be in service not only to the brand, but its collectors.) is listening to its customers and trying to find ways to execute upon their desires. The LE for the Spanish dealer is an example of this movement, as are these two Beverly Hills Boutique exclusives. I give JLC credit for being open to ideas, nimble enough in thought, and bold enough in action to make these watches happen. I'm not living in a utopian bubble -- I realize that JLC is a business, and business is about making products to bring in more money for the company, but I guess I'm not so jaded as to think the sole reason JLC would create these boutique exclusives is to further capitalize on an already successful LE. I genuinely think they were responding to customer desires in a well-meaning, organic fashion.
