First of all, these are very nice " evolutions " of an already very nice watch ( sorry for the repetition ).
The darkened case is really great, and the small and discrete touches of color ( being dark orange or faded yellow ) give the watch a certain appeal.
Now, some reserves:
1/ JLC prooves, with the reveal of these watches, the limits of the LE concept.
Let's remind that the " normal NSA " is a LE of 1500 pieces.
Now, we have 30 special NSA made ofr the Spanish retailer Aldao.
+ 19 in black gold.
+ 62 in black titanium.
So a total of 3 LE variations on a LE...
That wouldn't have been a problem if JLC didn't decide to make the NSA in LE, that may be a problem to make LE on LEs.
2/ The 19 pieces in Black Gold disturb me a bit, while I understand the black titanium.
If you make a relation with the Navy Seals, I doubt that any of them were convinced by the interest of a black gold version.
This idea, if I got it well, came from some Californian Enthusiasts.
Why not?
But I don't see that this idea could be put in relation with some Military necessities.
For the same reason, I approve the black titanium version, discrete, light, and more resistant than black gold.
3/ The etched writings on the crystal...
19 + 62 + 30=111 NSA which will come with the etched crystal, rather than the writings on the alarm disk.
While I really don't care about the writings on the alarm disk, some may be disturbed, who were pleased to see, at the SIHH 2009, this NSA with the etched crystal, and who discovered 9 months later that things changed.
And I understand them, even if, once again, it is not a big deal for me.
But as we know, the AR coating and the Engraving on the crystal didn't work together...
So does that mean that JLC sacrified the AR coating on these 2 latest versions for the engraving on the crystal?
I regret it, personally.
IMO, JLC should have avoid that, and introduce the normal NSA in a non LE Edition, and avoid, on these watches the etched crystal.
It is not fair for those who got the Aldao version, nor for those who regretted to not see the etched crystal on the normal production.
This kind of distinction is not good, IMO.
Besides these thoughts, the NSA in this configuration is a really nice and powerful watch.
Best,
Nicolas
