Of course you cannot be serious

Owing one watch hardly amount to a collection.
Nor does owing one chair, or one painting. Why limit oneself to just one, if one is interested in watches (plural)? To what benefit? I read reference in the thread to mono- and polygamy. Are we some so enthused and enamored with our watche(s )as to compare it/ them with our wife/ partner?
For me it is very simple, I love watches (plural) but I do not have unlimited funds. I want the best of what i can afford. I cannot own all of what I see and like and that in itself is hard enough as it raises the issue of what I like, what watch I want to keep or acquire. Why do I like this watch better than another...etc, etc.
Your question becomes interesting as it has undertone of an "exit" or "grail" watch. For me this passion becomes interesting in that each watch joining the collection has to be something exceptional, Every single new watch joining the collection has to be treated as if it were my one and only watch. I currently have 5 projects with independent watchmakers. They are all wonderful projects. Some have started a looong time ago, some are fairly new. They will all come to materialise at different times. These projects have become a big part of my private life. Each and everyone of them is a journey in its own right with its own universe populated with fantastic people... Why limit oneself to just one of these experiences? Do we only go to the cinema/ theater/ opera/ football match/ restaurant, etc. just once?
Thank you for your thought-provoking post.
