Whenever I buy something that costs more than $100-200, then it better make me feel on top of the world. Any flattering nouns and adjectives thrown at me by the generous and kind purveyors of this forum, are beyond-welcome. We are all fortunate to have financial situations that allow us the time and money to partake in this hobby, so as long as that is kept in mind, it’s all fair play.
As for the “acquisition” and “her” part, I have to say that I don’t know much about your collection journey or what pieces you own, but I imagine it to have been a very rich and diverse journey. However, I can speak for myself. Since joining this forum, my collection has shifted from stock CNC-machined pieces to customized hand-finished pieces from artisans who make 10-70 pieces a year. I wouldn’t necessarily call it growth, just a shift. I am very much a part of the customization/design process, and the lengthy period of time between payment and delivery makes it feels like a Fortune 500 merger/acquisition 🤣🤣. And because the process of customization is more tangential than a straightforward process, the end result has the same sentimental value as a child that you’ve raised or a spouse that you’ve chosen. Hence the “her” etc
Just my horological meandering. 😁
