As you'd know, it's not as sharp as MFSL, but it's not shabby either.
Vaguely recalled that there had been a nasty rumour about the master tape so Googled it afresh and, sure enough, this is to be found at "Popsikedotcom":
"Dark Side of the Moon LP production note: In a recent interview, Gregg Schnitzer of MFSL revealed, "Did you know that the Dark Side of the Moon master was ruined? Somebody put it on a recorder instead of a playback-only mastering deck, and a little piece of Supertramp got dubbed onto the outro of Breathe".
Add to that the general degradation of magnetic tape and we'll be lucky if anything survives for a 50th anniversary pressing. Maybe you're right, and we should switch to the Stones: at least we won't need to be concerned about audio quality! ;-)
