Now to the watch...
I have fewer nice things to say.
It looks like a watch that has the quintessential Lange design ethos.
Nice open dial, big date, large Lange luminous hands, and a small seconds sub dial with a traditional Lange look.
Even the Lugs seem a close match to the L1.
Without bracelet, the watch looks almost just like we would expect a Lange to look (save perhaps for the Manta Ray pushers and the oddly small crown).
And then Lange started rooting around in the parts bin for a bracelet that might fit.
What's wrong with that?
Well, Lange should have designed the watch from the ground up with the bracelet as an element as critical as the dial, not with the bracelet as an afterthought.
Lange might also have hired a designer to help with this effort rather than rely on the staid, traditional designers who are responsible for Lange's old world charm.
What kind of designer? Think Hermes. Think Bulgari. Think of a designer who designs modern objects.
I don't know, but I suspect Lange just had all its regular designers handle the design here.
If you're going to build a building that's a bit original and somewhat fresh, do you use a designer who's bailiwick is in the design of capitol buildings?
As others have pointed out, the bracelet looks suspiciously similar to JLC's bracelets on its Master Control and Compressor pieces.
Lange had a great opportunity here, but really missed, and that's a shame.
