You are by far the person I like to read best on the topic of A.L&S, which contributed to my acquisition of a 1815 Auf/Ab.
There is a lot to like about this Odysseus:
- the dial (both the layout and the color) and hands
- the movement
- the asymmetrical case with the clever pusher integration
- the overall dimensions
And then, there is the bracelet, which in my view completely misses the mark:
- far too wide
- poorly integrated in the case
But what I find particularly galling is that it ends up missing the mark because it tries to be an integrated bracelet, even though it's not.
Just because both the AP Royal Oak, the PP Nautilus and the VC Overseas have one didn't mean that A.L&S needed to follow suit.
They could have gone for a traditional bracelet, work on the case integration instead, and the end product would have been far more balanced.
Instead of which we have a "me too" product (high-end steel sports watch, blue face, integrated bracelet), which is really the part that disappoints me the most.
I might be a bit harsh, and us A.L&S aficionados are a very demanding bunch, but this is such a special brand that I really want them to do well.
What I'd really like to see is this watch on a high quality navy blue rubber strap, but please, keep it narrower than the lugs.
