Agreed that UA should have just kept offering more money until they got the empty seats that they needed. They screwed up.
But, on the other hand, IMO the man should have accepted his fate and exited the plane, rather than raise a stink and refuse to comply. He was, rightly, a disgruntled adult who objected to his unfortunate selection for âinvoluntaryâ bumping and all of the inconvenience that goes with it. But he probably should have acted as an adult in this circumstance, instead of acting as a child who doesnât get his own way. As soon as it was clear that his objections were not going to change his circumstance, he probably should have complied.
So, IMO both the UA (and airport) employees, and the man, acted poorly.
