I stopped travelling on Western Airlines....
Culturally too cold and indifferent to the point of being rude, too by the book and procedures due to fear of legal ramifications and fear of loosing their jobs, God forbid you are in Economy, seats as hard as granite. Airlines from smaller or less advanced economic countries are a lot of more fun to travel on, I never pay for excess baggage, cabin crew super friendly and kind, food exciting and new and cheaper too.

Having flown with those airlines of smaller countries, I totally agree! They are often quite good! EVA (Evergreen) Air is one of my favorites. I have a newfound appreciation for my friends coming from the East to the USA on an American carrier.

Yeah, I've been denied boarding at the gate, but never once I've already been seated.
