Patek Philippe

Yes, unfortunately the point has flown way over your head.

The person whose watch this thread concerns (also a member here) has been informed that, as he was not the original purchaser of the 5396R – dropped off at HSWA by his bother-in-law, with a datewheel problem (a known issue with the SC 324 movement) – the remaining manufacturer warranty no longer applied.
This is contrary to how the rest of the world works (by and large) for other secondary Patek owners (or owners of pieces gifted to them by family/etc), and as far as I’m concerned, contrary to existing consumer law in the USA under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975.

If Patek, via HSWA, have been wrongfully charging legitimate warranty holders for fixing a problem that would’ve otherwise been covered under warranty for the original owner/purchaser, for the past 10+ years, then you can be rest assured that it’s most definitely NOT “much ado about nothing”!
