Patek Philippe

Of course they are

as they should. The warranty is a personal contract between PP and the original owner. All contract warranties require privity of contract which means they are agreements between the actual parties to the contract here PP and the original owner. The confusion comes about, I think, because the National Safety and Highway transportation Act in the US required all car warranties to be transferable for the term of the warranty. This is the only instance I know of where a warranty is transferable to a subsequent purchaser. A warranty is nothing more than a sales incentive to sell new product. If the company allowed the warranty to transfer new sales would decrease and all units, in this case watches, would be covered under the warranty. Manufacturers can calculate how much of their product line will be sold before the new warranty runs out and this lessens their total cost of the warranty program. I see sellers all the time saying there is time left on the warranty as a sales ploy, No company will honor the warranty once the item is sold whether its a watch, camera, musical instrument, or whatever, UNLESS their warranty specifically states its extends to subsequent purchasers.
