For sharing your thoughts with sincerity and objectivity, something really rare nowadays.
I can confirm all your concerns about the finishing of the movement, which is not a 240 prerogative neither is for the 5712 but you'll find this level of finishing in almost every 215 and 240 from the 80's on.
Here is some shots taken from 3 of the 240 i own, a 5015, a 6000 and of course a 5712
On the side of comfort i find the crown too overlooking and interfering too much with the top of the hand, a thing i ascribe to the particular overlooking flank of the case and its reduced thickness. I think the winding crown shoud be a little bit recessed inside the "rehaut".
The bracelet is pretty comfortable but, like in other celeb sporty flat watches, the inability to precisely regulate its size to the size of the wrist can be very frustrating.
Another not laudable particular is the finishing of some details in the dial, for example an often misaligned index at 12
With all its limits, anyway, it remains one of my favourite flat sporty watches together with the royal oak (2120 inside) ones
Best regards
