Patek Philippe

bracelet choice

Yes the Nautilus series is quite hard to resist and choose from. But seem like you agree with me that 5712/1A flies just above when it comes to choosing 1. However beyond that I find sooo many on my wish list. But personally inclined to go for strap as bracelet would make it too similar unless it was made of something other than steel. In the current lineup that leaves only the 5980/1R and 5713/1G if I recall correctly. As much as I find those beautiful not convinced they are fitting with my lifestyle.

It could be argued the white dial Nautiluses are so far from the blue that bracelet overlap would not matter. Particularly given how great this bracelet is (huge fan of the 5980 white dial for what it is worth). I would rate the Nautilus bracelet top in class, whereas I would rate the Nautilus straps somewhere in the middle in class. The most commonly referenced alternative to Nautilus, Audemars Piguet, wins the strap option battle easily. Better rubber option, better deployant, and easier to change straps. But, I have owned several APs and find myself gravitating over to PP over and over so no choice for me personally. Suppose Patek is saying you want rubber, go Aquanaut. Not bad, but wish was a bit more to choose from in that lineup.

So, next Nautilus will likely be a strap version in a colored metal. Simply to keep it as diverse as possible.

Or should it be a white dialed bracelet version? argh…. perhaps Basel 2015 will make choices easier.
