Did you ever consider the leather strap version of the 5711/5712?
Your review is excellent and thank you so much for taking the time to confirm to me that the 5711 and 5712 are superbly balanced, surprisingly thin sport watch with an intoxicating blue dial. I was recently looking at some of the discontinued 5711s with leather straps (they didn't stick around long) as well as the current 5712s with leather straps - and although the Purist community almost universally does not favor going with a leather strap on the iconic Nautilus - I found that these leather strapped varieties were very photogenic. During your lead up time to acquiring your beautiful 5712/1A, did you consider the leather varieties and discount them as being iconoclastic, uncomfortable on the wrist and not properly balanced? Did you find the dial color choices on the leather strapped versions to be too much of a stretch away from the magic blue? Never saw a chocolate dial in the flesh, but it seems to be amazing. Can I get your thought process on staying away from the leather? Thanks!
