Thank you for your take on the new VC...
... let me quote you on the very point that puts me off when it comes to the watch:
„The Achilles’ heel in this case (no pun intended) is the date window is a little small, and to my eyes, it’s two millimeters too centrally placed courtesy of the smaller movement. But minor faults, easily forgiven at this pricepoint“
I think that no price argument makes up for a flaw that is as obvious as this date window, and even more so the too small print on the date disc.
I like the idea of VC creating a new entry watch, I can live with a Cartier movement decorated to a VC standard. It has already been mentioned by some fellow purists that the actual pricepoint of this watch may not be set right, with the Quai d‘Ille being not massively away.
But this date window/disc is compromising the whole idea, it jumps right to your attention and you ask yourself, did they not see this? Or do they simply not care? I would expect a house like Vacheron Constantin to do better, especially on an aesthetic element, given the importance this watch seems to have for them.
Cheers
Henrik
