I’m not a fan of Hodinkee collaboration watches as well. But find their articles interesting read and enjoy the video interviews of Talking Watches. So far last year has been sparse in the ppl they are interviewing

...but they suck up to everyone in the industry, especially the Sterns. And they have become increasingly 'woke.' Some of their recent essays spend half the time bashing white, heterosexual men...I can get that crap from TV...tell me about watches.

Their earlier collab is sincere and have strong unique character

Everyone applauds if Beyer or Tiffany manage to put their logos on a Patek dial and the market lusts after those. If Hodinkee does it with a brand similarly, is that wrong? Are not magazines like Revolution Watch or influencers like William Massena etc ef... 

...and a Tiffany logo increases the value, then God bless you. I would prefer that my dials have as little extraneous text as possible.

This is not just a commentary on Hodinkee but on ANY other publication/blog/podcast, etc doing the same. For example, I wouldn't consume news reporting on war in [insert conflict] if that publication was sponsored by Raytheon, etc. What kind of objectivit... 

Reviews of any product or even a movie or a work of art are always subjective. A reviewer whose affinity is towards traditional watch-making may never be able to do an objective review of an avant garde and off-the-narrow-path watch, even with all sincere... 

...that's an ideal situation that rarely, if ever, comes to pass.

The problem is this... What if some collectors who are new to the game (the potential profits in the watch world are drawing in new speculators/collectors) who listen to a critic's every word... They often listen to Hodinkee praise watches that Hodinkee g...

Where the “review” is a paid for advertising without it being stated. I too am happy for H or anyone else to do whatever because I am past the stage of my collecting where other people’s opinions sway mine but I still think it is not possible to be a watc... 

Hodinkee would argue that their editors and writers aren't told specifically to mention the brands they carry in a more positive way. But they probably would admit that they do write about those brands more simply because they have more access giving them... 

I find it troubling since I used no foul language and kept comments on topic (or what passes for it on a watch blog, anyway). And the comments just disappear and no one from the staff ever reaches out to explain why the comment was removed or give me an o... 

I'm not a moderator, nor do I care deeply one way or the other... but wouldn't you agree that spending too much time trying to be snarky is not healthy for your soul? Best, Robert

i know peoples heads will explode in excitement but considering how hot patek models are i really hope they don't resort to this gimmick.

Patek can discontinue the 5711, then roll out the 6711 with a 1mm larger/smaller case or some other mild tweak and continue on their merry way. Just like the old trick Panerai has used for ages.

This news is NOT about a Hodinkee collab. It is more info from Thierry regarding a possible upcoming release of FINAL 5711 version aside from the green dials

. . . a final tour. There's been speculation aplenty, including from yours truly, over the last thirty years that this or that tour would be the last, but not from the Stones directly. I'm still holding a ticket for the Minneapolis show canceled last year...

...the puff piece bit doesn’t surprise me. Lots of stuff on Hodinkee is puff. Jack Forster is one of the *only* people doing professional watch writing who seems to have any integrity and whom I still respect (a big shout out to SJX for keeping it honest ... 

When I got my first Nautilus (3710/1A), I bought it because it appealed to me – at a (nice) discount! It was very easy to buy. I became a fan of the brand. That was awhile ago, and since then it seems Patek has become the Hermes of the watch industry. OK…... 

If I can’t get Patek’s green or maroon or yellow watch, I can always purchase the Timex MK1 hand wind which is certainly more charming than a Patek leather strap that costs more than the Timex. The point I’m making is that most of us who’ve been collectin...

obviously found it plausible that a 5711 collaboration with the Dink was upcoming. I, for one, would say with stern conviction that something like that just could not happen, ever. (And if it did - I wouldn`t have thought an AP super hero watch possible, ...

I figure the only way to go out with a BANG will be to release a Salmon dial 5711 similar to this Salmon dial AP. Hopefully this will be the BOMB that Thierry is referring to… ...  

Plonking in a new colored dial deems uber-cool and is being made to look like the next biggest horological achievement of the century. Brands are milking this craze of green and salmon dials merrily; and influencers are adding dry fodder to this fire. And... 

Heard through the grapevine there is something being released soon!! Possibly this month… 🤞

Haven’t heard anything definitive but details are sparse so far on allocations. It may take a while before clients are notified if they have been allocated a piece. All I know is clients whom were sold Tiffany stamped watches and flipped them are definite...
