Design excellence in the perpetual

The in-line date display is a design delight. Perfectly sized and legible and keeping the dial uncluttered. Patek has stepped up the game and made it tougher for other brands to do any better. IMHO this is a gauntlet thrown at A.Lange & Sohne's Lange 1 Perpetual calendar which brings its own pizzaz on the design stakes.
Watch collectors would be truly tested in terms of coming to a decision to pick one of the two.
The other two offerings - i.e Annual calendar in steel, is likely to meet with the usual frenzied response by virtue of the metal and the bracelet; but offers nothing in terms of the caliber, which is still the old 324. Also the sub-registers seem a bit closer to each other and look squinty.
Coming to the 6119, while the movement is a refreshing upgrade from the dinosaur caliber 215, nevertheless, the finishing could have been much much better than what seems visible from the images.
Overall a very measured and sensible set of offerings that is totally in line with the design philosophy of Patek.
Cheers
