That being said, my enthusiasm for "the hunt" is dampened now. For me, the excitement of wearing any particular watch is so often tied to the experiences that I intend to have with it. So, whether it's going to the office (which calls for certain watches ), or going out to meet friends for dinner or drinks (which usually calls for a different watch palette) -- there's just something about the "occasion" that is tied to my enjoyment of watches. And, perhaps the biggest example of this is the prospect of traveling -- new places, new experiences, new memories, all tied to the choices I make about what to bring along (or what to purchase). Now that there is a disconnect in the way we are living during the pandemic, there is also a disconnect in some of the ways that watch collecting is most meaningful to me. (Does this make sense?) I was on the phone with an AD yesterday, discussing a watch that I have been lusting after for some time -- but, the spark just wasn't there for me. It will wait. There are so many more pressing issues to navigate at the moment. But, when the time comes, and things open up again in a meaningful way -- and, travel to far away places once again becomes part of the program -- well, I can't rule out celebrating that moment with something new.
